About Us

How "Learning to Love" Got Started

Learning to Love began in 1991 as a Christ-centered non-denominational ministry to meet the needs of hurting children from broken homes. Our focus was on teaching children how to deal with feelings, such as anger and bitterness. We wanted to teach them how to express and deal with these feelings in a way that would bring healing to their lives. Originally, this was directed towards families within the Church and Christian schools.

In 1997 God showed us the need to minister to the whole family, especially the parents. We thus expanded "Learning to Love" to ensure that parents were actively involved with their children throughout the program. This ministry has since evolved into an outreach that attempts to meet emotional, relationship and spiritual needs of unsaved families in our community.

"Learning to Love" was initiated through Cathedral of the Valley Church(now Escondido Christian Center) in Escondido, California, and has been effectively ministering to families in North San Diego County for over ten years.

Our Vision

To meet the needs of broken and hurting individuals and families by providing Christian laymen everywhere with the training and tools necessary to minister biblical principals for the purpose of healing, restoring and maintaining healthy Christian relationships within the family. This is accomplished through training workshops that prepare churches to replicate the program in their own churches and communities.

Our Goal

Bring salvation to the lost.

Form a bridge from the church to lost hurting families.

Reach out in love with practical answers to their needs.

Establish biblical ways of dealing with destructive emotions.

Strengthen family relationships by equipping them with skills to face life's challenges together.

Our Doctrine

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, true and unchangeable, and inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe there is one true God, maker of heaven and earth. We believe in the Trinity, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that while we were yet sinners, Christ, being both fully God and man, died for us, taking sinners' punishment upon Himself. Upon simple faith and acceptance of this perfect sacrifice by our Savior, the sinner may be cleansed of his sins. We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly through grace; that we have no righteousness of our own to merit God's favor. We believe that upon sincere repentance, and a whole-hearted acceptance of Jesus as Lord, they who call upon Him will be justified by faith, through His precious blood. We believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and His return to earth to take His church with Him.
